Date Night!!

Ryan and I finally were able to have a date night last night!! Thanks to our friends, Katie and Andy, we were able to spend some QT together for the first time since Emma was born. It's hard to get that time since we don't have any family less than 8 hours away to watch Emma, and I haven't felt comfortable yet leaving her with a stranger. After dropping Emma off to hang with little Carter who is 3 months old, and his parents, we headed to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in town, Firebirds. I had the best filet mignon and Ryan had some rockin' prime rib....and we got a free dessert of creme brûlée cheesecake! Free you may ask?! Well, somehow our waiter thought I said we were expecting a baby when I really said we were out without our baby, explaining the constant smiles! Before we realized what was happening, our waiter explained the "situation" to his manager and long story short, we got free dessert. I kind of feel guilty about the whole thing but I'm a total sucker for dessert! I promise here and now, however, that I will never let something like this happen again. Promise...but man, that cheesecake was GOOD! After dinner, we went and saw Super 8 at the theater. It was better than I expected and had a good plot! I was pleasantly surprised! We didn't get back to pick up Emma until 10:00. She was out like a light and had taken over Carter's crib for a couple of hours! Katie and Andy said she was great the whole time, and even took a special liking to their golden retriever, Reiley. :-) We need a dog, but that's another story. All in all, yay for date night! I think we're going to trade off with Katie and Andy so we can all have a date night once a month. I didn't realize the importance of this until now! Even just a few hours together without kids, can revitalize a relationship. Thanks to our friends for the special night!
