19 months

I'm going to try and start up Emma's monthly posts again. I've been so bad about it and have only completed one since she turned one. :-(  My main purpose for starting a blog was to document Emma's development. I really want her to be able to some day read all about her life and hopefully I can get back on track to help make this happen. So...on to Emma's 19 month blog post!

Emma, you are an amazing little girl! I really have no words for how wonderful you are! I absolutely love being your momma and though there are moments when you test my patience, I love you more than you'll ever know.

  • You are 21.6 lbs and 31.75 inches tall (as of 6/20/12 at your 18 month check up). You're still really slow to gain weight but the doctor said he's not worried as your development is perfect and you don't look that small. :-)
  • You have blond hair (strawberry blond when wet) and blue eyes. Some days your hair is really curly and other days it's a little frizz ball and more wavy. :-) I don't know what to do with it! Even if I brush it, it usually looks like you just got out of bed. ;-)
  • You still have 12 teeth. Come on, canines!! I feel like your canines have been trying to come in for months but still, nothing. :-(
  • You LOVE the pool. :-) You definitely enjoy the big pool over the baby pool. You'll hang out in your float for a little while before wanting out. If you're not in the pool, you love running through the fountains!
  • You talk all the time! You have added many words to the 200+ you already know. You've started putting words together to make phrases. The one we hear most is "I love you!" :-)
  • You are still a star at putting puzzles together. I recently introduced stringing beads to you and you are picking it up well. You pick up new skills so quickly.
  • You are still super picky when it comes to food. I keep trying to introduce new things but you're quite stubborn. I started freezing baby food pouches of fruit/veggies into popsicles so I can get some veggies in you! So far, you really enjoy them. :-)
  • I let you watch Barney one day and now you ask for him on a daily basis. Your favorite songs of his are the "I love you" song and the "Elephant" song.
  • You seem to love all Sesame Street characters. We have a few books and some stickers. You love to name the different characters. Your favorite character seemads to be Elmo but you like Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, and Big Bird too.
  • You still adore reading. :-) It makes me so happy! You have so many books (thanks to your momma being unable to resist a cute kid's book!). You're starting to show favorites. Right now, you're enjoying "The Wide Mouthed Frog," and "The Goodnight Book." The last one was my favorite as a child and your Mamie found an old copy for you!
  • You are starting to sing your "ABC's" and "Old MacDonald." It's adorable. :-)
  • You had roseola at the end of May/beginning of June. I have no clue where you picked it up! You developed a really high fever (103.7F) the day after Memorial day and it continued through Friday morning. Only Advil would bring your fever down but it would shoot back up to 103 after 5 or 6 hours of medicine. After your fever finally broke, you developed a rash all over your torso. The rash lasted a few days and then you were back to normal.
