My dearest Emma,
It is so incredibly hard to believe that an entire year (13.5 months now that I'm writing this!) has passed since you entered this world. You have changed my entire life and I cannot express in words how thankful for you I am. You are a blessing to your daddy and I, and we thank God for creating you and bringing you into our life. It sounds cliche to say that we don't remember life before you but it's true! Becoming parents is the best thing your father and I ever did. It changed us in ways you won't understand until you have children of your own. Parenthood, though challenging, is a beautiful thing... the best thing. :-)
Emma Grace, you are an amazing little girl. I don't think I could list everything I adore about you but here are a few simple things -- your infectious smile, especially the way you tilt your head and smile sometimes (it melts my heart!); your giggles (just like mommy!); your love of books; how excited you get whenever you see a dog; and your determination. You are a stubborn, headstrong little girl and though it makes some days challenging for all of us, I believe it will make you a strong, independent woman someday.
I love you so very much! You are one of a kind -- the best kind. :-)
