How is it possible that this tiny, beautiful baby...
could blossom into an even more beautiful, loving, silly 6 month old?!
It blows my mind to think that 6 months ago, I was in surgery waiting to meet my little butterball. I've now got an amazing little girl who I love more than anything in this world. I can't believe 6 months have gone by so quickly...too quickly. I love seeing Emma grow and change, and I look forward to each new milestone but it's also a bit sad to think that my little girl will never again be a tiny infant sleeping in my arms. I wake up each morning, thankful to have another day with her. She is the light of my world and I'm beyond thankful to God for blessing me and my family with her presence.
Here are some facts about Emma's sixth month:
- You are 16 lbs 15 oz and 26 1/2 inches long as of May 26, 2011.
- You are wearing 6-9 month clothing.
- We're still squeezing you into size 2 diapers, only because we had a huge stash that my parents bought us back in February! They are almost gone and I've got a pack of size 3 Little Movers ready to go!
- We started you on solids at 24 weeks. You hate rice cereal but seem to be okay with it if it's mixed with something else. You LOVE sweet potatoes! Pears are growing on you but definitely not a favorite.
- Your laugh is the most wonderful sound I've ever heard! You love to laugh but always at something different. What makes you laugh one day may not work the next!
- You are sitting up very well now! I have to keep a close eye on you though because you love to reach for things on the floor and your balance gets off quite easily.
- I bought some new toys for you! You love to push buttons and get rewarded with music and lights.
- You are so adorable when you bounce in your jumperoo! It makes you so happy!
- You don't take your pacifier too often, usually just at bedtime or when you are very tired/hungry and we're not home. You are quite the expert at removing and replacing your paci in your mouth!
- You can roll in both directions! You hardly ever roll from your back to your belly because it's harder for you but you are a pro at rolling from your belly to your back.
- You are using consonants when you make noises now, especially "g" and "m." I've been trying to get you to say "dada" or "mama" but you just laugh at me. :-)
- I wish I could see what you do in your crib each night. You're always in a different place when I get you in the morning!
- You're a little wiggle worm on your changing table now! It's getting more difficult to change you and dress you each day!
- You love to play peek-a-boo! Everytime you get a blanket in your hands, you pull it up over your face and wait for someone to say "Where's Emma?" before pulling it down and peeking out. So cute!
- I took you to the pool for the first time on Monday, May 23rd. You weren't quite sure about the water. You love bath time but weren't feeling the pool. Maybe it's because the water isn't as warm despite the recent 90 degree temps! We'll keep trying though because Mommy (and baby) needs to get out of the house. :-) And because you are SO adorable in your little bathing suit!
- You're drooling much more and I wonder if a little tooth is going to pop up in the next month or two?!
- Your eyes are still beautifully blue and your hair is still very light brown, almost blond! Your hair is starting to grow over your ears just a little!
- You started giving me kisses. Okay, really they're just big, slobbery, open-mouthed smooches but I love them all the same! You also reach your arms up to me whenever you want to be held. It melts my heart every time.
- You are taking WONDERFUL naps right now! You take three naps throughout the day and the first two usually last 1-2 hours. It's a big change from the 30 minute naps you were taking a couple of months ago!
- You still love your feet and enjoy trying to get them to your mouth.
- You suck on your thumb occasionally.
- Most importantly, you are now sleeping 11-12 hours consistently each and every night!!!! I consider us VERY lucky! Yay Emma!
